Lots of fun, lots of prizes and a great trail ride.
We have some portions of trails open with limited status so we can’t show it on our trail status yet. The B 106E between 1 79 North of Bancroft and the 178 south of Whitney and 178 and 178A north of Mink Lake are limited availability. Once the packing process is completed we will open more. Stay tuned for updates.
Our volunteers have been working hard to clear trees and branches off the trails. All of the trails are packed as of today and they tried to groom, but there just isn’t enough snow yet. We all have to do the snow dance.
The Maple Leaf Snow Skimmers thank our membership and those volunteers who dedicated many hours to provide safe trails for all our riders to enjoy.
Have a great summer and see you next year.
The long hot summer of 2013 ended with a “DREAM COME TRUE” for our club. Fifteen years of aggressive fund raising gave us the opportunity to build a facility to not only house our groomers and related equipment but keep our dedicated volunteer base out of the wrath of the bitter cold hands of mother nature. A “building committe” spear headed by George Tsagrinos, Club Director ( an excellent builder in his own right) was put together with fellow club executive members – Ray Craig, Herb Hammond, Dewey Jordan, Bram Vantol and Lionel Williams. After extensive planning efforts by the committee we broke ground on June 12, 2013.
This was a huge undertaking for a “not-for-profit” organization. We are proud to report the vast majority of work and materials was performed/purchased from the local business community. The project, under the close supervision of George, was completed within the planned time frame of just over two months. Two key volunteers, Barry Combden and John McMurray devoted numerous hours to the project – their support was excellent.
Our “ribbon cutting” ceremony was held on September 25, 2013 at our new home – 348 Boulter Lake Road, Lake St. Peter, Ontario with a very impressive group in attendance – council members of Hastings Highlands, the Town of Bancroft, OPP commander, our exectutive, local club members and many other interested business owners.
While the building is complete on the exterior and looks wonderful, we still have more “fund raising” to perform in order to finish the interior – insulation, dry wall, wiring etc. A well and septic system are also in future plans.
Eventually our membership will have a convenient spot to meet and enjoy the sport of snowmobiling so drop by on your travels and see “first hand” the extra efforts of your club.
It goes without saying any support/donation you can make would be appreciated.
Stay tuned for a great slide show of the project in the future.
Dewey Jordan, Club President.
